Practice Small. Lead With Meaning.
Meaning isn’t something you find once. It’s something you practice: in the conversations you have, the choices you make, and how you show up for others.
For Michelle, leadership isn’t about having all the answers. It’s about noticing the small moments that shape trust and culture, because those are the ones that leave the deepest imprint.
The Heart of My Work
I learned about change long before I taught it. In my twenties, I was excommunicated from the Mormon church. Years later, I lost my younger brother, Matt, ten days after 9/11. His death made mortality real to me, and made me want to live more consciously.
Losing Matt taught me something no framework ever could: we don’t live our lives in the big moments. We live them in the small ones we assume we’ll get again.
I’ve seen the same truth in every organization I’ve worked with. Bold visions matter, but culture is built in everyday moments: the question asked with curiosity, the pause before reacting, the person who feels seen.
That’s what Practice Small is all about.
Leadership isn’t something you declare.
It’s something you practice.

Beyond the work
I’m a mom, which has been one of the great joys of my life. I love to travel, read, play tennis, practice yoga, and dance. I ran a marathon when my son was seven months old. I’m sure that says something about me. Dan and I turned our love of travel and tennis into a marital Grand Slam, celebrating milestone anniversaries at all four majors and finishing at the Australian Open for our 25th. It took twenty years, but we did it.
